AACO’s 55th Annual General Meeting opens in Abu Dhabi

The 55th Annual General Meeting of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) opened today (24 October) at the Conrad Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi and will run until 26 October.

The event was sponsored by Etihad Airways Group, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, Chairman of Etihad Airways Group.

The event attracted more than 300 Arab and global aviation experts, including AACO member airlines, CEOs of partner airlines and industry partners from aircraft and engine manufacturers, global distribution systems, information technology partners and more .

The Director-General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, the Director-General of the European Aviation Safety Committee and the Deputy Director-General of the International Air Transport Association also attended the AGM.

The opening ceremony of the AGM will be held tonight at the “Louvre Abu Dhabi”. AGM Patrons will address delegates tonight, followed by AACO Secretary General Abdul Wahab Teffaha.

The AGM working meeting will be held tomorrow, October 25th at “P4 Floor – Ballroom” of “Conrad Etihad Towers”. These sessions will feature the AACO Secretary General’s report on “The State of the Industry”.

The report will be followed by two discussion groups, bringing together the CEO and the Director-General. The first panel on digital transformation will be moderated by Mr. Muhammad Albakri, IATA Senior Vice President – DG – Strategic Leadership Team. Panelists will be:
• Irra Ariella Khi – CEO of Zamna.
• Juan Pablo Lafosse – CEO of Travelx.

The second panel on aviation industry strategy will be chaired by Mr. Eamonn Brennan, Director General of Eurocontrol. Panelists will be:
• Henrik Hololei, Director-General for Transport, European Commission
• Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai
• Maen Razouqi, CEO of Kuwait Airways
• Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines

Following the conclusion of the discussion group, a private meeting of AACO members will be held to discuss and decide on administrative, financial and strategic issues related to the work of AACO. – arab trade news agency
