Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been tipped to be the next James Bond, as he reportedly shot a version of the 007 film’s iconic gunshot opening scene.
The Sun on Sunday (11.12.22) said the 32-year-old “kick-ass” actor filmed the segment, after Daniel Craig, 54, stepped down from the Bond role.
The Sun previously claimed Aaron had completed a “top-secret audition” for the role at Pinewood Studios.
A film source told the publication: “Aaron impressed the bosses so much that he shot one of the franchise’s famous barrel teasing scenes, which all the Bond actors do. The move brought him one step closer to signing the deal.
“Bosses at the label have been impressed with his unique intensity of acting and impressive action catalog.”
Aaron, who starred in “Tenet” and “Bullet Train,” now has 4/5 odds to name bookmaker William Hill the next 007.
Earlier this year, Idris Elba was said to have dropped talks to become the next 007 in order to pursue “his own film franchise”.
With Idris out, Henry Cavill, 39, and Rege-Jean Page, 34, are the bookmakers’ favorites.
But producers reportedly wanted the new Bond to be under 40 and over 5ft 10in tall.
A source told the Daily Star in August that Eon Productions was looking for a “fresh face” replacement for Daniel.
Bringing in an actor “in his 30s” would allow him to hold the role for at least a decade or three films, they added.
The source also said that filming on the next film could begin in winter 2023.
Richard Madden, 36, and James Norton, 37, were also tipped for the role, with the alleged 5ft 10in height requirement apparently ruling out the 33-year-old. Taron Egerton, John Boyega, 30, and Kit Harrington, 35.
