ABBA’s Voyage hologram display sparked interest from peers, including Cher and Bee Gee Barry Gibb.
Björn Ulvaeus has revealed that some of the biggest names have traveled to the purpose-built ABBA Voyage Arena in Stratford, east London, to watch the Swedish pop legend’s avatar concert.
Björn and his bandmates Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad transformed their younger selves into Abba-tars (holograms) for the experience, and it is said that some of their contemporaries are now considering hosting their own holograms Performance.
Bjorn told Radio Times magazine’s festival edition: “I know Barry Gibb has seen it. I’ve heard rumors about Metallica.
“I don’t think Mick Jagger has, but he’s said it.
“Cher is going. A lot of my contemporaries are now thinking, ‘Is there a way we can do it?'”
The 90-minute show includes pre-recorded classics as well as new hits by the band, such as “Don’t Shut Me Down.”
ABBA performed their last concert 41 years ago.
Avatar performances can continue even after the team leaves this world.
Sir Mick Jagger recently said that incarnation shows like ABBA offer endless opportunities for established entertainers.
The Rolling Stones frontman hasn’t considered whether the “Start Me Up” rocker, who has been touring for 60 years, could hold his own digital holographic concert in the future, but he’s interested in a “technological breakthrough.”
The 79-year-old music legend said: “It would be silly for me to give you a simple answer because I haven’t really thought about it seriously.
“The ABBA stuff gives you this technological breakthrough that I haven’t really seen yet.
“I was supposed to check it out, but the trains were on strike. So I didn’t. I didn’t go on the train, but…the traffic was terrible, so I can’t really answer that.
“Obviously, technology will give you some answers, and who knows what technology will be in the future?
“We’ve moved into a world of artificial intelligence doing these things, and you can also do a lot of musical composition with less sophisticated computerization.”
