exclusive: ABC declared itself victorious for the 2022-23 TV season.
According to the latest Nielsen data as of May 24, the network currently has an average rating of 0.6 among entertainment demos for primetime programming for ages 18-49, excluding sports.
That puts it No. 1 among broadcasters in entertainment programming, ahead of Fox, NBC and CBS’ 0.5 ratings.
This is the fourth year in a row that ABC has been or is tied as the top-rated broadcaster in entertainment, and the first time since the network was founded 31 years ago in Nielsen’s electronic database.
ABC was particularly successful in promoting six of the season’s most-watched primetime shows — American idol Sunday (rated 0.9), bachelor (0.8 rating), Bachelor in Paradise Tuesday (0.8 rating), American idol Monday (rated 0.7), Danger!master Monday (0.7 rating) and Bachelor in Paradise Monday (0.7 rating).
Overall, ABC was tied or the top network (excluding sports) for 20 of the 36 weeks of the TV season and 14 consecutive weeks from Feb. 13 to May 15.
Ratings measurement uses “latest” data for all Nielsen content, which includes a combination of 7-day ratings, 3-day ratings, and same-day ratings when available.
