As part of an expansion strategy to increase cargo capacity, enhance operational capabilities and attract new business opportunities, the project equips the cargo facilities within ADAFZ with significant upgrades to the latest aviation industry standards.
The most significant of these upgrades is a new cold storage facility developed in partnership with Etihad Airport Services and Etihad Cargo, which will allow the airport to handle temperature-sensitive air cargo such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare and Life Science Products. With over 3,300 square meters of dedicated temperature-controlled area, the cold storage facility expands AD Airport’s capacity to handle all import and transit cargo, as well as store bulk cargo and unit load devices (ULDs).
