The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH), the UAE’s healthcare regulator, and Sanofi, an innovative global healthcare company, have signed a declaration of collaboration. The partnership reaffirms Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a leading life sciences destination and innovation hub.

The declaration of collaboration was signed by Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director of the DoH Research and Innovation Centre, and Jean-Paul Scheuer, Head of MCO and General Manager of Specialty Care, Sanofi Greater Bay Area.

Key activities of the agreement include collaborative initiation of clinical research programs and patient recruitment agreements. In Hematology and Oncology, DoH and Sanofi have agreed to create data generation and population research programs for advanced breast cancer, liquid tumors and blood disorders. Additionally, the two organizations will work together to create a high-risk population screening program that will support the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to detect rare metabolic diseases.

Additionally, the collaboration will see the launch of the Supply Chain Academy, which aims to provide and enhance knowledge related to the vaccine supply chain, which will be led by an International Federation of Procurement and Supply Management (IFPSM) accredited entity.

Dr Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director, Research and Innovation Centre, Department of Health (DoH), Abu Dhabi, Said: “Through international collaboration, Abu Dhabi seeks to lead research groups supported by global partners exploring the resilience and sustainability of the global healthcare sector and providing patients with quality care and innovative treatments.
