Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) and the Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen economic and trade relations between their members and benefit businesses Abu Dhabi and Benin Communities of the Republic.

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, First Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and Arnauld Akakpo, Chairman of CCIB, at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce headquarters. The signing of the MoU was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to the UAE, His Excellency Moudjaidou Soumanou Issoufou, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the UAE, His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, representatives and officials of the Benin Embassy in Kuwait from both parties.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will work to strengthen cooperation, promote investment opportunities, and facilitate strategic exchange opportunities among chamber members. The two chambers of commerce will share trade and investment information and expertise, exchange trade missions, organise virtual events and support the launch of joint projects in investment, tourism, agriculture, healthcare and technology.

His Excellency Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, First Vice-President of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, said in his keynote speech: “Trade between Abu Dhabi and the Republic of Benin has grown significantly year by year and we are eager to further the belt of partnership we have established today. The two countries are keen to strengthen trade and investment to drive economic growth. We look forward to exchanging knowledge, expertise and exploring investment opportunities that can be a win-win for all.”

His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, said: “The MoU between Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to promote investment, tourism, technology, agriculture, healthcare and technology sectors. Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce represents the private sector The voice of the sector and is committed to exploring opportunities to support the development of the UAE’s private sector and attract local, regional and international investment.”

“We will work with CCIB to exchange knowledge and expertise to enable members of both chambers to achieve their business objectives and enhance their competitiveness in the global market,” Your Excellency added.

Arnauld Akakpo, President of CCIB, said: “I would like to thank the efforts made to sign this agreement. The MoU between the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and the Benin Chamber of Commerce is aimed at promoting and developing trade and investment activities for Emirati and Benin businessmen. Benin The Republic is the main gateway to the markets of West African countries and is an active member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which includes 15 African countries with a combined population of 350 million.”

His Excellency Moudjaidou Soumanou Issoufou, Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to the UAE Non-Resident, said: “The Government of the Republic of Benin provides a set of institutional facilities and legislative guidance to attract foreign direct investment. Some of the important sectors for investment in Benin include agriculture, marble, granite and quartz Export and trade of decorative stones such as feed production, animal husbandry, and export of tropical fruits such as pineapples, mangoes, soybeans, cashews, and other products.”
