Abu Dhabi Chamber’s labor camp development group holds first meeting after restructure in 2022

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Camp Development Group, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), held its first meeting in 2022 at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce to discuss recent developments in labor camps and their current challenges, proposing Solutions and plans. This is in line with the sustainable economic development goals of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The meeting was chaired by Otaiba Saeed Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Camp Development Group, and attended by His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of the Abu Dhabi camps.

His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, said: As the voice of the private sector and the political party charged with protecting the interests of the sector, the Abu Dhabi Chamber will continue its efforts to support the enforcement of labor camp regulations. We will also continue to raise awareness of the rights of foreign workers and liaise with relevant government agencies to take pre-emptive measures to overcome any future challenges. “

“Increased integration and coordination between the public and private sectors is needed to increase productivity levels and contribute to increased revenues for business enterprises, which will support the social and economic growth of communities,” the Lord added.

The board of directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce approved the restructuring of the labor camp developer group in September 2022. Under the new structure, Otaiba Saeed Al Otaiba was appointed as Group Chairman and Ahmad Abu Al Yazid, Ammar Ramadan, Mudather Ahmed, Firas Jumblatt, Firas Zahzah and Khalil Ibrahim, as members of the group. The group’s mandate includes addressing the challenges of the Abu Dhabi labor camps and making recommendations to the Abu Dhabi Chamber’s Board of Directors to discuss the challenges and take necessary actions.

The Camp Developers Group is an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce to increase coordination and communication with the private sector in Abu Dhabi, identify challenges it faces and propose solutions in coordination with various local and government entities.

Otaiba Saeed Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Camp Developers Group, said: “The Group will continue to take steps to improve the working conditions of Abu Dhabi’s workforce. We will ensure that all conditions are established to provide them with a safe working The best safety standards for workers and international standards.By doing so, we help strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional and global leader in investment and attract more foreign direct investment and workforce to support the emirate’s growth and development .”

The meeting achieved a number of results, including reconsidering the organizational structure of the working group, holding monthly meetings, and appointing representatives of relevant government entities as permanent members, and planning to communicate with these entities as soon as possible to advance the required steps. The meeting also included recommendations to overcome some of the challenges in order to improve the efficiency and quality of services provided by the penal development team.

There are currently more than 30 labor camps in the Al Musaffah, Hameem and Al Mafraq areas of Abu Dhabi which have been developed and equipped with all facilities, facilities and services. The rapid growth and launch of new facilities in Abu Dhabi has led to the arrival of a large number of workers and service providers, which has increased the demand for suitable accommodation and residential facilities.
