With a vision to drive security, trade facilitation and service excellence, Abu Dhabi Customs (ADC) has launched a new smart classification and customs management system, putting ADC at the forefront of the latest technological developments in the industry.
The Smart Classification and Tariff Management System, developed in collaboration with Webb Fontaine, utilizes an advanced artificial intelligence-based search engine and next-generation IT systems to provide appropriate HS codes for customs transactions. The new system will digitize the HS code classification of products imported and exported from the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
“This is the first system at the regional level to support searches based on the commercial description of goods and by Global Trade Item Number GTIN and Compound Registry CAS Number,” said HE Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General. Abu Dhabi Customs Administration. “This enhances the customs process by guiding users to select the appropriate and correct classification code and associated prohibitions, restrictions or explanatory notes. This helps reduce classification errors, facilitates effective taxation, improves the quality of foreign trade statistics, and encourages dealers Voluntary compliance and building trust between the trade community and Abu Dhabi Customs.”
