Abu Dhabi Del Mar Street renamed to honour Emirati cultural and business figures

One Abu Dhabi Street renamed in honor of distinguished United Arab Emirates Cultural and business figures.

Saeed bin Ahmed Al-Otaiba Street – formerly Del Mar Street – acknowledged Mr. Al-Otaiba’s enormous contribution to Abu Dhabi’s economy and cultural heritage, the Abu Dhabi Media Office reported on Friday.

The new street signs are the result of a directive from President Sheikh Mohammed and were unveiled by Sheikh Tb bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and member of the Executive Council.

The office stated that Mr. Al Otaiba was born in 1916 in the Al Dhahr community of Abu Dhabi.

He started his career as a pearl trader and later traded commodities in the region.

Al Otaiba has also served in various government agencies since its establishment United Arab Emirates In 1971, including as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Emirates Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, became a respected poet.

The street inauguration was attended by Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of the Ministry of Community Development and member of the Executive Committee; Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Ministry of Municipalities and Transport and member of the Executive Committee; and Al Otaiba’s family and several senior officials.
