Abu Dhabi Department of Energy to showcase major projects and initiatives at World Utilities Congress 2023 as Sustainability Partner

Working with some of the most important entities in government and the private sector, the department highlights its latest climate-friendly policies and initiatives

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) will be participating as the lead sustainability partner at the 2023 World Utilities Congress at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) from 8-10 May.

The DOE Pavilion, located in Hall 5, Booth 5110, will work with strategic partners to showcase the most important policies, regulations and initiatives driving the energy and water transformation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Since its inception in 2018, DOE has been developing progressive climate-friendly policies and regulations to support national and international efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Some of these policies include a clean energy goal that would generate 60 percent of all electricity in the United States by 2035, and the UAE would use clean energy to generate electricity. What’s more, these targets will help us achieve a 75% reduction in carbon emissions per megawatt-hour in Abu Dhabi’s power sector. The policy is the first legally binding target of its kind in the Middle East.

Over the next three days, the DOE will showcase its contribution to the nation’s net-zero emissions by 2050, as well as its energy and water efficiency initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The DOE leadership and management team will also sign a memorandum of understanding and participate in panel discussions, dialogue sessions, strategy workshops, conferences and media events.

Now in its second year, the World Utility Congress has become an important platform to explore the latest products, innovations and technologies in the global utilities sector. It brings together the world’s most influential leaders and lawmakers in the water and energy sectors, facilitating dialogue and information exchange while promoting their role in researching, developing and implementing proactive solutions, products and services in the market place.

This year’s conference will focus on sustainability, particularly clean energy production, flexible transmission and distribution networks, water resource management and desalination, utility operations and consumer issues. Global leaders and ministers will be in attendance, as well as policy makers, experts, investors, entrepreneurs and youth representatives.
