Abu Dhabi Municipality is keen to promote healthy lifestyles and has launched several initiatives and sports facilities to encourage sports and exercise among residents and families.
One of the main initiatives of the civic institution is the creation of an integrated system of playgrounds and multi-purpose sports facilities, which can be found in all areas of the city, as well as in residential areas, parks and beaches.
These playgrounds provide a healthy, safe and secure haven where you can play different sports and enjoy your best moments and services.
The city provides dozens of multi-functional playgrounds, including 14 sandy areas, 36 rubber areas, 22 asphalt areas, 7 artificial turf areas and 1 natural grass area. This is in addition to the basketball court for the determined at Abu Dhabi Corniche, with many sports equipment scattered throughout the playing area for the determined.

Other facilities include playgrounds in Khalidiya Park, Capital Park, Abu Dhabi Corniche Gardens and Municipal Gardens, as well as playgrounds in Residential Gardens.
The city government says it conducts regular maintenance and cleaning of all these playgrounds and monitors their efficiency in order to provide residents with the best sports facilities to keep them happy.
City officials also repaired or replaced damaged equipment and items, including fences around the playground, floors, lighting and fittings, goals, bars and nets. Officials also stain and paint sports facilities according to approved maintenance cycles, in addition to monitoring all stadiums to protect their assets and facilities and maintain readiness to serve athletes.
“Abu Dhabi Municipality is also keen to provide recreational spaces for families and children, enhance communication among members of society, and provide modern public service facilities for residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi City,” a municipal statement said.
City officials have urged community members to take advantage of these sports and recreational facilities, which can keep them happy and motivate them to exercise because of their positive impact on the overall health of their families and society.
