Unconfirmed footage on social media showed thick black smoke billowing from what appeared to be the Mussafah area.
This United Arab Emirates Yemen has been at war since early 2015 and is a member of a Saudi-led coalition over Iran-backed Houthis. It also cooperates with the United States on counterterrorism operations in Yemen.
The Houthis claim to have previously carried out attacks on Abu Dhabi airport and the emirate’s Barakah nuclear power plant. UAE officials have denied these claims in the past.
