Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi is encouraging residents to walk 1 billion steps collectively by October 26 for a chance to win a ticket with Etihad Airways.

The interactive challenge was launched by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Community Development, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, fitness app STEPPI. The challenge ends at the end of the 9th International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH) Congress, which will be held in Abu Dhabi.

Consistent with ISPAH’s theme of “Making Every Step Count”, the Billion Step Challenge will run from September 23 to October 26 and will bring together thousands of people from the wider local community to help achieve the goal, thereby Encourage people to be more active. Participants in the draw will stand a chance to win a flight to any destination in Europe or Asia with Etihad Airways.

In addition to UAE residents and citizens, it will also aim to attract the participation of more than 1,000 visitors from around the world who will be attending the 9th Congress. The ISPAH Congress will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 23rd to 26th October.

This challenge is part of ADPHC’s ongoing efforts to promote physical activity and is in line with the Abu Dhabi government’s efforts to promote healthier lifestyles.

People can download the free STEPPI app and track their progress, and a dedicated website with a real-time counter will show accumulated steps. It will also include advice on different activities individuals can take to take as many steps as possible, and there will be a chance to win an Etihad Airways ticket.
