Abu Dhabi entities sign preliminary agreement to promote sustainability in industrial sector

[ad_1]

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (newly added) and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) will promote the adoption of clean energy certificates across the industrial sector to further develop the emirate’s circular economy.

A preliminary agreement aimed at improving the sustainability of the industrial sector will help strengthen the competitiveness of the emirate’s energy sector and its relationship with private manufacturers, two government agencies said on Wednesday.

“We continue to actively pursue partnerships and alliances with public and private sector market players to ensure that Abu Dhabi’s smart and circular economy can achieve its goals and in turn the UAE’s Sustainable Development Goals,” added Deputy Minister Rash Al Bloch.

“Our initiatives help strengthen and continually improve our economic profile as we work to build a stronger future based on environmental, social and corporate governance models and investments.”

He said Abu Dhabi had made “steady progress” and the latest partnership demonstrated “the extent of our diverse initiatives with our ecosystem of strategic partners”.

Ewec will work with Added through the Industrial Development Authority, the market regulator, to develop solutions that support innovation in energy products.

IDB has launched several initiatives with strategic partners to drive industrial growth and strengthen the circular economy.

In addition to promoting clean energy certificates, IDB also established an electricity price incentive scheme in 2019 to increase productivity through efficient use of energy.

Additional and Ewec said they will also work together on proposals to further improve the ecosystem and attract new investment for sustainable factories in the emirate, one of the main objectives of Abu Dhabi’s Industrial Strategy.

Othman Al Ali, CEO of Ewec, said: “This new strategic partnership with Additional is an important opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi’s economy with sustainability at its core.”

Abu Dhabi [clean energy certificate] The program has already shown the significant impact it can have in helping companies reduce energy consumption and take real action on climate change. “
