Abu Dhabi Exchange’s ETF market trades over $380 million

The trading value of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has surpassed AED1.4 billion so far this year, making the exchange’s ETFs some of the most liquid in the Arab world.

Year-to-date, the ADX ETF market volume growth was supported by more than 11,400 traded volumes of 227 million units. This milestone reinforces ADX’s position as a leading regional ETF center with the largest number of ETFs of any regional exchange, offering investors a diverse range of investment options, including Shariah-compliant and geographically diversified funds. Since the first ETF was listed on ADX in August 2020, the exchange now has seven ETFs and an eighth ETF, the upcoming Chimera FTSE ADX 15 ETF on November 24.

To support the growing demand for passive strategies and support the exchange’s derivatives market, ADX has partnered with FTSE Russell this year to create a suite of indices, including the FTSE ADX Growth Market Index (FADGMI), launched in Q3. Launched in March 2022, FADX 15 selects companies by free-float-adjusted market capitalization and median traded value. In June, the exchange launched FADX 15 futures, offering investors a new way to facilitate risk management during periods of market volatility.

Saeed Hamad Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADX, said: “Reaching this new milestone in the exchange’s ETF market demonstrates the success of ADX’s strategy in providing exchange investors with diversified investment products. ADX is committed to Enhancing market efficiency and sustainable growth. The ADX ETF marketplace is a testament to our commitment to being the exchange of choice for issuers and investors.”

The market capitalization of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange recently surpassed AED2.5 trillion, while the exchange’s benchmark index, FADX15, hit a new high of 10,500 points for the first time in ADX history.
