Abu Dhabi Golf Club hosts 2021 Asia Pacific Women’s Championship

A total of 78 players from 24 APGC countries participated this week.

The first championship was won by Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul and Japan’s Yasuda in 2019. He currently leads the LET’s Costa del Sol Rankings, while the Philippines’ Saso and Thailand’s Patti Tawanajit have become the main players this year. After the champion participated in the first WAAP competition in Singapore.

The four-day tournament will be broadcast live on TV throughout the region for four hours from 6 am to 10 am GMT (10 am to 2 pm UAE time) and will be broadcast through TheR&A’s YouTube and Facebook channels and RandA.org conducts a live broadcast. After the 118th Women’s Amateur Championship, the 126th Amateur Championship and the 41st Curtis Cup finals are also digitally broadcast through all these channels, this will continue the R&A summer live broadcast of golf.

WAAP was developed by The R&A and APGC to discover emerging talents and provide Asia’s elite female amateurs with access to the international arena. R&A launched the Women’s Participation in Golf Charter in 2018 and is committed to increasing women’s participation in this sport. WAAP is one of several important tournaments organized by the governing body, and it is also an important measure to promote the popularity of women’s golf in the region together with APGC.
