Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Concludes Successfully

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Assault teams on final day of highly anticipated Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour 2022-2023 (ADGS – Abu Dhabi) at Zayed Sports City Victory at the Badala Arena.
In the competition of the professional group, the masters from all over the world competed fiercely, which was brilliant.

In a stunning display of skill, the Commando Group took to the mats to claim the Professional Championship, cementing its place as one of the top Jiu-Jitsu clubs in the world. AFNT fought hard and finished second, while Baniyas finished third.

Closing Day marked the end of the ADGS 2022-2023 season, with a grand awards ceremony recognizing the top Black Belts who performed well throughout the season and achieved the highest rankings. The women’s title list includes Brazilians Diana Teixeira (49kg), Ana Rodriguez (55kg), Julia Alves (62kg), Izadora Silva (70kg) and Gabrielli Pesanha (95kg).

UAE’s Zayed Al Kathiri (56kg), Brazil’s Leonardo Mario (62kg), Melan Alves (69kg), Lucas Protasio (77kg) ), Jason Ramos (85kg) and Catril Fernandez (94kg) top the men’s kg category), Yatangolde (120kg).

A number of dignitaries were in attendance, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan; Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Brigadier General Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF); Member of the Board of Directors of UAEJJF Mansour Al Dhaheri; Tariq Badran, Investment Director, Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and a number of officials, guests and representatives of participating academies.

UAE champion Zayed Al Kathiri continued to dominate the sport as he won gold at the professional black belt level in the 56kg category and topped the ADGS rankings in the same category. “On a personal level, I am very happy with this achievement. I am delighted to be hoisting my country’s flag on the podium. I dedicate this achievement to my loyal fans, coaching staff and the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, This paves the way for the advancement and rise of Emirati players,” he said.

Khaled Mohammed Al Shehhi, a player for the UAE National Team and Al Ain Club, expressed his delight at winning the gold in the 62kg, black belt, professional category. “I am as eager as everyone else to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam title, especially since this is the final round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship series and its points will go towards the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards . that year. I thank everyone who has supported me in my career to achieve this,” he said.
