Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi now has a new bridge linking Baniyas East and Baniyas West.
The new bridge is part of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain highway (E22) and will reduce travel time between the two suburbs from 11 minutes to just 3 minutes. It was inaugurated today by the Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa.
In a statement, the emirate’s municipal regulator, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), said the bridge can accommodate up to 1,400 vehicles per hour on the E22 and 1,100 between the two suburbs.

The project includes the construction of the upper intersection connecting Baniyas East and Baniyas West and associated roads, the transformation of the current Baniyas East roundabout into a signalized intersection, and the construction of pedestrian ramps. It also involves the demolition of existing pedestrian tunnels, water and communication lines, transport and protection of irrigation and sewage pipes, and protection of existing street lighting and electricity distribution networks.

As such, the bridge is intended to boost economic growth and improve traffic flow in East and West Baniyas and other nearby areas.

210 energy-saving light poles are used for the interchange, and the asphalt area of ​​the project is 195,580 square meters.
