Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT) has launched a “digital twin” project aimed at improving the delivery of services and the functioning of the real estate market in the emirate.
The announcement was made during the five-day trade show GITEX Technology Week at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which ends today.
The twins will use aerial photography, lidar scanning and game engines to build digital replicas of Abu Dhabi’s buildings and infrastructure, and will also include interior structures to “enable the interior navigation of the building to support emergency response” speed and support the planning and decision-making process”, in the words of an emirate official news agency.
Salem Al Kaabi, Director of Operations at DMT, said: “By using 3D modeling to create a complete visualization of the emirate, the Abu Dhabi digital twin project facilitates data analysis, facilitates decision-making, monitors the emirate’s cities, and uses virtual reality to highlight the most visible to the public. location.”
Groups expected to use the twins include planners, engineers and specialists from the public and private sectors. They will be able to simulate the impact of urban planning options when considering changes to the built environment.
It will also assist real estate professionals by providing data on lease contracts, buying and selling indicators, community amenities, building permits, business permits, and information on services and inspections.
