Abu DhabiThe Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT) announced the launch digital twin project, a first in the emirate’s capital.

The project was unveiled during GITEX Technology Week, a technology and entrepreneurship event held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which concluded last week. The project will integrate a range of advanced technologies, including aerial photography, Lidar The scan and game engine creates an accurate digital copy of Abu Dhabi, supporting the work of planners, engineers and experts in the public and private sectors. Its purpose is to simulate 3D changes in the urban built environment and evaluate large amounts of data. Buildings, infrastructure, and even interior spaces in the emirate will be virtualized to improve planning and decision-making processes and response times in emergencies.

The digital twin is also designed to support the real estate industry and inspections by ensuring the continuity of updating data related to lease contracts, lease indicators, buying and selling indicators, urban space and community facilities, building permits, asset management, address and service information.
