Abu Dhabi launches new support service for the determined

Abu Dhabi: The Zayed Senior Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) and the Family Care Authority (FCA) of Abu Dhabi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their efforts to provide integrated social services to people of determination Aspects of mutual cooperation and their families.

The memorandum also provides for effective plans to support people of determination through social, psychological and rehabilitation measures, as well as other measures in line with ZHO and FCA mandates.

Al Humaidan said: “ZHO has signed several memorandums of understanding and agreements with various government and private entities to provide first-class services to people of determination and their families. This ensures their integration into mainstream society and in line with ZHO’s mission and Instructions from our wise leadership to contribute to sustainable development.”

Under the MoU, FCA will mobilize all forms of support to those of determination and their families through a case management system and an integrated service framework. Dr Al Mulla said: “This MoU demonstrates FCA’s commitment to step up its efforts and strengthen its collaboration with like-minded organisations operating in Abu Dhabi’s social sector, especially ZHO. By increasing the efficiency of social services and improving access to beneficiaries , we will ensure the achievement of our shared goals of raising the standard of living for families and enhancing the overall well-being of society.”

“The MoU will help us deliver comprehensive social services to our beneficiaries by adopting the latest practices in service integration and social case management,” he added.

ZHO will, with the assistance of ZHO experts, ensure support and services are provided for cases submitted to the FCA by those who are determined, based on the case management plan and prior coordination between the case managers of both entities. Case managers will evaluate cases based on assessments of hearing, vision, speech, mental and physical disabilities, functional and academic skills, behavioural disorders and autism. This will enable them to diagnose the type and extent of disability and ensure appropriate psychological and social counselling for determined individuals and their families, including psychological, behavioural and adjustment issues and prevention and treatment of developmental disorders.

ZHO will also provide dedicated training programmes to meet the needs of people of determination and will share data on these people and their families with the FCA. In addition to providing FCA’s building and facility decision makers with technical expertise and professional advice on environmental codes and standards, ZHO will provide services to support these individuals in case management and related research and studies. These measures will help identify challenges and propose the legislation needed to improve services for determined people and their families.
