Abu Dhabi Police has launched a new awareness campaign urging motorists who have committed traffic offences to take advantage of discounts to pay traffic fines and vehicle renewals in advance.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said motorists would receive a 35 per cent discount if they pay a traffic fine within two months (60 days) of the crime, and a 25 per cent discount for a year.

Brigadier General Muhammad Dhahi Al Humairi, Director of Traffic and Patrol at Abu Dhabi Police, said the campaign aims to incentivise vehicle owners to pay for traffic offences and raise public awareness of the benefits of paying traffic fines early and the consequences of delaying clearing. fine.

“The campaign has also raised public awareness of the facilities and channels for paying traffic fines,” he said.

The official explained that the police introduced a number of payment channels for traffic offences, including digital channels from the Abu Dhabi government “Tamm”, direct payments through the police’s customer service and happiness platform, and through the bank’s mobile app in partnership with five banks . in the UAE. These include Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Mashreq Al Islami and Emirates Islamic Bank.

To use banking services, drivers must have a credit card issued by one of these banks. Motorists must contact the bank directly within two weeks of the booking date to ask for the traffic fine to be paid in instalments.

“The service allows fines to be paid through digital channels such as the Abu Dhabi Police Service Centre and the website and smartphone app, and uses a one-year installment system with no interest,” the police said earlier.

Authorities are calling on the public to take advantage of the installment payment facility as it is easier and more convenient for many motorists.

According to police, the service is designed to ease the lives of drivers and car owners by repaying traffic violation fines in instalments throughout the year.
