Oh, this old thing? *swings Emirates on the neck*…
In the only truly surprising news that didn’t involve gold medal placement, Abu Dhabi came in second in a recent ranking of the “Most Luxury Resorts”.
Abu Dhabi is home to palaces; titular and grandiose hotels that are themselves palaces; airlines that offer free seats to falcons; gold souks; gold food; supercars and superstars; skyscrapers; desert oases; private islands; daring engineering projects; an artificial island; and a rafting spa.
The positions on the luxury hotel list come from a study conducted by slingo.com, a gaming website based in the UK, and attribute the ranking based on the percentage of five-star hotels in the area. Abu Dhabi’s 22 percent (more than one in five hotels with the highest star rating) leads the next position by 7 percentage points.

Topping the list is Bequia Island (42%), the second largest island in the Grenadines at just 7 square miles, without the largest data set available for analysis. But look, we’re not bitter, they’re fair and just winners. We’re still curious to know how many of their 5 star hotels offer afternoon tea on the helipad.
Other initiates in the top 10 included Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
The survey also revealed the fact that Paris has the most spas (Barcelona in Spain and Phapos in Cyprus came in second and third respectively).
beyond the glitz
But as residents and citizens will gleefully attest – Abu Dhabi’s gems go far beyond the scope and quality of its upscale hotels.
the vision of its leaders; the security that its people enjoy every day; the commitment to tolerance, development and improvement; the collection of museums, monuments, sites, archaeological excavations, galleries, religious centers, craft communes, sculptures, art installations and cultural areas; There are beaches, restaurants, golf courses, shopping centres, theme parks and park parks; a diverse landscape – dune oceans, islands, highlands, beaches, lakes, wetlands, wildlife sanctuaries and mangroves.
Abu Dhabi may be perfect for a luxury holiday, but its value lies in the fact that the travel experience is more than skin-deep.
