Abu Dhabi: Nearly AED 170 million allocated over 3 years to support residents in need – News

The Social Contribution Authority Ma’an has allocated a total of Dh168.9 million for various social priorities to support thousands of citizens and residents in need.

This amount represents 35.1% of AED 480.9 million – the total financial contributions received from various institutions and individuals through the Social Investment Fund in the past three years since its inception.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Maan revealed key areas for the allocation of financial contributions.

The authorities received these donations in support of three key social priorities officially endorsed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD).

As the official channel for collecting individual and CSR contributions, the Authority enables all segments of society, including individuals, organisations and companies in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, to make financial contributions to innovative social programmes and initiatives undertaken by Ma’an.

This allows them to connect their brand with the local community based on the interests of their contributors and in line with Abu Dhabi’s social priorities.

Financial contributions can be made through the Maan website, by direct deposit into their bank account, by bank transfer or by contacting the Authority’s Social Investment Fund team through various communication channels.

The social priorities identified by Ma’an to provide financial support include education, health, family cohesion, social support, necessities and issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of the drive, 49 social initiatives and programs are carried out by various government entities and non-profit social organizations based in Abu Dhabi.

Data from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) shows that Ma’an’s financial allocations for various social initiatives have had a significant positive impact on the lives of Abu Dhabi’s 695,000 citizens and residents – representing 2.9 million of the emirate’s population twenty four% .

Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, said: “The profound impact of Ma’an’s social support initiatives and programmes on the Abu Dhabi community is the result of the solidarity and cooperation that exists between all segments of society, both in the city and in the UAE, at the individual and organizational level.

In the UAE, we have learned from wise leadership that collaboration driven by creativity and innovation is the best tool to ensure prosperity for present and future generations.

At Ma’an, our role is to inspire collective efforts across sectors to achieve the desired social impact based on approved social priorities. “

The total value of financial assistance provided by Maan to its beneficiaries is Dh168.9 million.

Of this, nearly 39.3% or Dh66.3 million was allocated to initiatives and programmes supporting the education sector.

28.4%, or AED 47.9. million for healthcare-related programs and initiatives.

In addition, AED 54.6 million was allocated for community support priorities, representing 32.3% of the total allocation.

Al Ameemi also noted that Ma’an, established by DCD in 2019, acts as a link between government, private and third sector organisations to foster collaboration to address social priorities.

To achieve this, the Authority provides innovative solutions with sustainable and measurable impact to foster unity and cooperation in the UAE society.

“Given the strong involvement of government, private and third sector entities in addressing Abu Dhabi’s communities,” Al Ameemi added, “Ma’an is committed to providing appropriate support to all of our partners to achieve the Abu Dhabi Government’s vision , and strategic direction to ensure comprehensive social care for all segments of Emirati society.”

To make a positive impact within the community, Maan has partnered with DCD to provide financial assistance to 49 social programs and initiatives led by various government, nonprofit, and community organizations, including:

  • Ministry of Education and Knowledge (Adek)
  • Ministry of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH)
  • Emirates Red Crescent Society (ERC)
  • Canard Hospital
  • Farage Fund
  • Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha)
  • Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Education Authority (ECA)
  • Abu Dhabi Asylum and Humanitarian Care Centre (EWAA)
  • Several centres dedicated to the care of orphans and the determined
  • An entity that provides various social services to the Abu Dhabi community.

As a reliable official partner for interested stakeholders who wish to contribute financially to community initiatives, Ma’an provides organisations, companies and individuals with practical solutions to Support local communities.
