In an effort to improve the quality of services provided to customers and improve the efficiency of public parking systems, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT) Abu Dhabi has announced the start of upgrading all parking payment machines to 5G smart systems.
The system realizes the management of public parking areas through an intelligent digital integrated network, and installs the latest technology in intelligent interfaces, which are directly connected to the central parking management system.
As the paper version is phased out, the new upgrade will see an electronic version of the parking ticket. Customers can obtain their e-tickets by following a few simple steps explained on the digital screen, including selecting the type of parking, vehicle information (plate type, number, etc.), the length of the parking period, and the appropriate payment method. Multiple options available including Mawaqif card, cash, credit or debit card.
The new smart screen allows users to enter the required information and select the correct e-ticket type for all parking options across the emirate. During the upgrade process, devices will be reassigned based on the usage of each zone.
More than 1,200 devices running on 5G technology will be installed, and the entire process will be completed by the end of this year.
