He added that performers and participants, including himself, enjoy the festival’s spectacular atmosphere as it allows them to perform multiple styles of traditional military music for tourists and guests who enjoy daily performances. He explained that the police band includes bagpipes, brass and woodwinds. They perform many well-known pieces reflecting Emirati traditions as well as popular global music.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Wahshi explained that the Abu Dhabi Police Band was the first military band in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, formed in 1963 and debuting later that year.

He added that there had been many changes in the number of musicians, instrumentalists, official and civilian participation, and the number of military marches, while string quartets were introduced, expanding the quality of music and repertoire to include world-renowned symphonies.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Wahshi thanked the Higher Organizing Committee of the Sheh Zayed Music Festival for the opportunity each year to participate and produce a special program of traditional music, played daily alongside various other events at the festival. He also praised the festival’s tremendous development each year in terms of activities, design, decoration and pavilions, as well as the art and cultural performances that bring together countries from all over the world on one platform.
