Abu Dhabi police hands out free car seats to families to promote child safety – News

Abu Dhabi Police has issued child car seats free of charge to families and installed them in their vehicles as part of an ongoing initiative to promote charity work and spread a culture of child car safety among community members.

The Good Deeds initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent Society and Emirates Automotive.

Brigadier General Mohammed Dhahi Al Himairi, Director of Traffic and Patrol at Abu Dhabi Police, stressed that Abu Dhabi Police is keen to ensure the safety of children and spread a transport culture that requires child seats in vehicles.

“All family-owned vehicles should have child seats to reduce the risk of accidents, and the resulting injuries and deaths,” Al Himairi added, adding that small children should be seated in child seats and behind the wheel Fasten your seat belt when platooning. Vehicles.

The official praised the Abu Dhabi Police’s collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent Society and the important role of reaching out to those in need through charity and humanity through joint programmes that serve the interests of the community.

According to the regulations of the transportation department, children under the age of 10 can only sit in the back seat of the vehicle and should wear a seat belt. Children under the age of four should be seated in an appropriate child seat to ensure their safety.

Drivers who allow children under the age of 10 to sit in the front seat of their vehicle will face a Dh400 fine. The car will also be confiscated and the owner will be fined Dh5,000 under the Abu Dhabi Traffic Law.

The UAE traffic law also imposes a fine of Dh400 for families who do not provide child car seats for children aged four and under.

Research has shown that a child in an unrestrained seat can be affected by the equivalent of a fall from 10 meters. Road safety experts say car seats will keep them safe in the event of such an accident.
