The authorities urge the public not to respond to any messages promoting narcotics
The Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) worked with its partners to destroy a drug gang consisting of 142 members of different nationalities and seized 816 kilograms of narcotics.
Brigadier General Taher Al Dhaheri, head of the Narcotics Bureau of the APD’s Criminal Security Department, said that the anti-drug team monitored random posts on social media platforms that contained pictures, videos and audio messages promoting drugs that could be delivered anywhere in the country.
He explained that the group used international phone numbers to promote narcotics.
He said that after the launch of the search operation, the anti-narcotics officers arrested drug dealers who tried to transport the drugs in different locations.
He added that drug dealers and distributors were captured on the spot and submitted to the judicial department for trial.
Al Dhaheri urged the public not to reply to messages or deal with people promoting narcotics. They should block the number and immediately call the toll-free number 8002626 to report to the Aman service department.
