Abu Dhabi police urged to keep young children safe in car seats

[ad_1]

These safety measures are part of the UAE Federal Traffic Law and Abu Dhabi Police has been working to promote them widely through its “Safe Summer” campaign.

Brigadier General Muhammad Dhahi Al-Hamiri, Director of Traffic and Patrol, Abu Dhabi Police, explained that the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of child car seats and the overall safety of children in vehicles.

So at a booth at Mushrif Mall, police demonstrated the importance of child car seats in preventing major injuries. By law, these car seats must be used until the child is 145 cm tall. Once this height is reached, the child must be secured with the vehicle-mounted seat belt.

Parents should not only use car seats for their children, but also ensure that the height and weight of the seats are suitable for each child, Al Hamiri said.

The official also urged motorists not to put children on their laps in the front seats, adding that the practice could put children at risk.

There may also be penalties for failing to keep children safe in moving vehicles. In fact, those who fail to properly protect children in moving vehicles can be fined Dh400 and given four traffic black spots.
