Abu Dhabi: Real estate company ordered to return 1 million dirhams to customers for breach of agreement-News

[ad_1]

A man bought a piece of land from the company for 1 million dirhams, but did not receive the land he purchased or the document granting him title

A real estate company in Abu Dhabi was ordered to pay 1 million dirhams to a businessman for failing to fulfill the land purchase agreement.

According to the complainant’s lawsuit, the man bought the land in Abu Dhabi for 1 million dirhams and paid a total of 970,000 dirhams to the company. However, the company neither gave him the land he purchased nor provided him with documents granting him ownership, which the man claimed violated the sales agreement.

The businessman said that he had asked the real estate company to give him his land or refund his money, but his efforts were in vain.

In addition to refunding the money he had paid, the businessman also demanded Dh400,000 as compensation for the economic and spiritual losses he suffered due to the company’s delay in giving him land.

The Abu Dhabi Civil Court of First Instance issued a ruling earlier instructing the real estate company to pay AED 970,000 and 5% of deferred interest to the merchant every year from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment.

The judge also ordered the defendant to pay Dh60,000 in damages and legal fees to the plaintiff.

The real estate company has challenged the ruling to the Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal upheld the original judgment but reduced the amount from AED 970,000 to AED 943,332. This is in addition to the compensation of 60,000 dirhams, bringing the total amount to 1 million dirhams.
