Abu Dhabi receives 40 applications for civil marriages from expatriates every day

[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Justice Department (ADJD) receives an average of 40 civil marriage applications from expats per day, which equates to 4 documents per working hour, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reports.

Since Law No. 14 of 2021 on Civil Marriages and its impact in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi came into force in early 2022, the Civil Family Court of Foreigners has received more than 10,000 applications for civil marriages.

It provides a wide range of services to tourists and residents of various countries. Services include civil marriages, no-fault civil divorces, joint custody of children, civil wills and inheritance, and proof of parentage.

Abu Dhabi has launched a “fast” civil marriage service, allowing weddings to be held within 24 hours to accommodate the large number of tourists who come to get married.

Yousuf Saeed Alabri, Deputy Minister of Justice, stated that they have a paperless e-court and are committed to achieving excellence in the delivery of e-judicial services from the filing of the application to the final hearing.
