Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, an operator of local and international cruise and leisure destinations, has seen a significant increase in the number of tourists and ship calls during the 2022/2023 season, making it the busiest cruise destination for cruise lines in the region.

Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal recorded more than 700,000 tourist arrivals in Abu Dhabi and more than 82,000 passengers started their journeys from Abu Dhabi as a port of embarkation. The first quarter of 2023 was particularly strong, recording 363,494 visitors and 120 calls, compared with 89,953 visitors and 60 calls in the first quarter of 2022. Passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2023 is more than 37% higher than the number of tourists received in all of 2022.

Overall, the growth compared to the previous quarter was impressive. Over 700,000 visitors and 184 calls were registered for the 2022/2023 season, compared to 177,639 visitors and 130 calls for the 2021/2022 season. This growth reflects the expected rebound of the UAE cruise industry in the wake of Covid-19 and the strong commitment of Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal.

Commenting on this extraordinary achievement, Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of AD Ports Group Ports Cluster, said: “The increase in visitor numbers is a testament to Abu Dhabi’s status as a world-class maritime tourism hub and the trust placed in our partners in the cruise industry Deploy their newest and largest ships to the area.

Opened in December 2015, the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal provides cruise passengers with a well-located base from which to explore and experience the UAE capital. The cruise terminal has restaurants, retail shops, duty free shops, Etihad Airways check-in and luggage storage.
