An Abu Dhabi resident who has lived in the UAE for nearly 30 years won Dh12 million in Wednesday’s grand sweepstakes.
Rashid Ahmad from Pakistan won millions of dirhams after entering the draw for the second time.
He bought the winning ticket number 037909 at Abu Dhabi International Airport after returning home from Lahore to visit his family in the UAE.
Shocked by the victory, he said he plans to use the money to pay down debts, repay loans and fund college tuition for his five children who are studying for a master’s and bachelor’s degree.
The second prize for Dh1m was won by Sajikumar Sukumaran from India. He purchased ticket number 217852.
Abu Dhabi resident Sharon Cabello from the Philippines also left with a dream car, the BMW Series 20.
One lucky winner will win Mighty Dh20m in the upcoming September Live Draw. A Dh1 million will also be awarded for the second prize, Dh100,000 and Dh50,000 for the third and fourth prizes respectively.
Last month, Abu Dhabi resident Safwan Nizameddin won the Dh15 million jackpot, becoming the first winner in St Kitts and Nevis.
Mr Nizameddin said he had been buying lottery tickets every month for the past two years and couldn’t believe his luck when he got a call confirming he was the lucky jackpot winner.
