Abu Dhabi Sea World on Yas Island will have the world’s largest aquarium

Abu Dhabi’s leading curator of magnetic experience, Miral, in collaboration with Sea World Parks and Entertainment, today announced significant progress in the construction of Abu Dhabi’s Sea World, the next generation of marine life theme parks, and Yas Island’s latest large-scale development project.

The Marine Life Park will have the world’s largest and most expansive marine aquarium and the new Yas Marine World Research and Rescue Center, which is currently 64% complete.

It is expected to be completed in 2022. The most recent major construction milestones include the completion of the main steel frame installation and the close to completion of the marine life park enclosure structure. In addition, the façade of the structure is currently underway, and more than 70% of the acrylic panels are installed in the entire park.

Once completed, Abu Dhabi Sea World will be home to the world’s largest and most expansive marine life aquarium, which has 25 million liters of water and accommodates more than 68,000 marine animals, including sharks, schools of fish, manta rays and sea turtles The main focus of the aquarium will show visitors an “endless view”, which is an impressive 20m high vertical window that spans multiple levels and presents stunning aquatic scenes.

Built on the extensive research and rescue expertise of the Sea World, the Yas Sea World Research and Rescue Center will serve as an advanced knowledge center focusing on the native bay and marine biological ecosystems. The facility will be adjacent to the aquarium and theme park and will be the UAE’s first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return center. It will be combined with the ongoing research, rescue, protection, and education-related work of the Sea World. Visitors can make appointments to visit. The Research and Rescue Center will also showcase the work of resident scientists and researchers, enrich visitors’ knowledge of aquatic animals, and provide tailor-made educational learning programs for local and international schools and tourist groups.

Visitors to Sea World Abu Dhabi will have the opportunity to interact with one of the most diverse animal populations in any marine life park in the world. The “Endless Ocean” theme aquarium encompasses the breadth and scale of the ocean display to guests. It is an element of the unified “ocean” experience, connecting the six different areas of the entire marine life park. The “One Ocean” narrative will enhance the park’s ability to simulate the natural habitats of different species, allowing them to live in harmony as if they were in the wild. Guests will be encouraged to explore these natural underwater environments through immersive storytelling technology and the latest cutting-edge technology to further deepen their appreciation and understanding of marine life.
