Top UAE entrepreneurs predict increased tourist arrivals in coming months

A top Emirati entrepreneur said that Yas Island’s successful campaign featuring Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has driven a strong influx of tourists, especially from India, with Abu Dhabi seeing strong tourism growth this year.
“We are seeing a lot of tourists from different countries. India is recovering much faster. I think we are growing compared to 2019. I am surprised by the growth of the Indian market in the past few months. I expect the next few months The numbers will be higher,” said Miral CEO Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, revealing the company’s new brand identity aimed at taking tourism to new heights.
Miral, a key creator of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, launched the ‘Yas Hai Khaas’ (Yas is Special) tourism campaign with Ranveer Singh, who was appointed as Yas Island brand ambassador earlier this year, and ” Yas, Yas Baby”, and a promotion for American actor Kevin Hart, who was named chief officer of Yas Island.
“Through our campaign, we have tried to diversify as much as possible. India has always been our first choice, with the GCC, Europe and Russia our preferred markets. In Europe, mainly the UK and Germany top the list.”
Talking about the large number of tourists from India and Singh as a successful brand ambassador, he said: “Ranveer Singh is amazing. We have a very strong relationship. The impact of that event was amazing and it was reflected in our visitors from India. How fast is the recovery in numbers. We are growing in the field. I think the impact is going to be there for many years.”
Al Zaabi noted that Singh and Yas Island have “same” values.
“Yas Island is full of energy and happiness. Ranveer has the same value. He is the right person to showcase Yas Island in the Indian market, which is a very important market for us. We see people coming to enjoy it for a week or more time. We look forward to working with him further.”
Al Zaabi cited the influx of tourists to the island, revealing that the WB Abu Dhabi Hotel, which opened just a year ago, recorded 90 percent occupancy during the summer holidays in July and August.
“I am amazed at the performance of this hotel (WB Hotel). It reflects the strength and strength of tourism in Yas Island and Abu Dhabi.”
Overall, strong demand led to a strong recovery of 90% and 120% in the international and local markets, respectively, compared to 2019.
“The trend is very positive. We are very optimistic about the next quarter.”

Al Zaabi showcased Miral’s new visual identity at an internal event, including a unique metaverse activation that mimics the new event. Miral has announced the names of three subsidiaries under a unified brand: Miral Destinations (formerly Experience Hub), Miral Experiences (formerly Farah Experiences) and Yas Asset Management.
“We believe that Abu Dhabi has a good foundation for tourism. We are taking it to the next level in the right direction. We think it is time to focus, be more proactive and play a bigger role in tourism role. Therefore, we decided to rename the group.”
Miral’s new logo is inspired by the theme of connection and abundance. The three lines of its logo represent Miral’s three pillars: people, community and environment.

Established in 2011, Miral is responsible for the development and management of Yas Island, home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, CLYMB Abu Dhabi, Etihad Arena , Yas Links Golf Course, Yas Home Mall, Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Marina and 10 hotels including WB Abu Dhabi Hotel and Hilton Abu in Yas Bay, Abu Dhabi’s premier seaside destination Dhabi Yas Island. Construction on Miral’s flagship development, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, is expected to open to the public next year. Two projects are underway on Saadiyat Island: TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.
Three new projects coming soon
Al Zaabi said as many as three new projects will be announced in the coming months.
“There are many more coming and in the pipeline. They are very interesting projects. They will play a role in taking tourism to the next level.”
The island has a very busy event calendar, especially at the iconic Etihad Arena.
“Imagine last year we went into lockdown and this year we have an event calendar every weekend in less than 12 to 18 months.”
The recent “Disney on Ice” at the Etihad Arena drew more than 30,000 fans, and both the NBA game in Abu Dhabi and the sporting extravaganza of UFC 280 were sold out.
“This reflects how strong Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry is and our reputation in the local and international market,” he said, noting that the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry “does well”.
Some of the other major events coming to the island include the Middle East debut of The Lion King Show, Formula 1 Grand Prix, National Day Celebration, World Triathlon Championship Finals, AR Rahman Concert and more.
Taking innovation to new heights, soon people will also be able to enjoy islands in virtual worlds.
“This is one of the areas we need to explore. That’s why we decided to test this new idea with our partners and actively use this platform in the future to raise awareness of the island and let them experience this virtually before visiting islands.”
