As a first step towards placing Abu Dhabi in the virtual world, several key Abu Dhabi entities have joined forces to bring Yas Island into the virtual world, authorities announced.
This ground-breaking move is the first in the UAE to recreate an entire physical destination on multiple world-leading immersive 3D platforms. The result will be a fully functional metaverse ecosystem that will allow visitors from around the world to experience the joys, wonders and attractions of Yas Island from their homes.
Yas Island Metaverse is a collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), Aldar, Miral, twofour54, Abu Dhabi Motorsport and Flash Entertainment. These dynamic business conceptualized virtual experiences will enable users to gather, socialize, play, create and transact. From building and purchasing digital homes, to discovering cultural attractions, to enjoying theme park adventures, special events, top-notch golf courses and world-class racing tracks – individuals will be able to experience everything Yas Island has to offer in a digital environment – a first trips. Customizable avatars and surprise rewards will be part of each user’s personalized adventure.

This innovative interactive platform is ideal for highlighting the extraordinary lifestyle, cultural and entertainment experiences Abu Dhabi presents to all visitors, and will empower virtual residents and visitors to curate their own unique Abu Dhabi itineraries in a whole new realm of reality . “

Currently in development, the island is being rebuilt using several of the world’s leading virtual world platforms, including The Sandbox and Roblox, and is powered by Super League Gaming, the global leader in virtual world games and experiences.
Once completed in the first quarter of 2023, Yas Island Metaverse will be operational and fully accessible to digital visitors.
