The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has launched a comprehensive coaching programme for 12 different sport disciplines to increase Abu Dhabi’s professional trainers.
The programme will be organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Maternal and Child Health Agency, National Anti-Doping Commission, National Ambulance and Sports Federations.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the program aims to provide licenses and certifications for 400 male and female coaches.
Open to physical education teachers in public schools and private colleges, the program includes football, volleyball, basketball, handball, aquatics, cycling, track and field, fencing, weightlifting, racket, archery and judo.
It consists of four stages; basic courses including child safety, first aid, anti-doping, and electives such as kinesiology, physical preparation and nutrition.
The second stage includes professional courses approved by the relevant authorities. The third stage is a refresher course for enriching knowledge and learning continuity, and the fourth and final stage is practical experience in European clubs.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director, Sports Development, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “We are delighted to launch the coaching programme in partnership with our invaluable partner. “Our aim is to develop and upgrade the training system, providing professional experience that will help nurture talents with Certificates and Licenses for Professional Technical Officers.
“This will enable them to pursue their professions in clubs, academies, public and private schools in Abu Dhabi under the approved sports programme. The programme is in line with the Sports Council to develop training cadres and strengthen professional work in clubs, schools and academies in Abu Dhabi basic strategy.”
