The Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Group (ADSG), with the support of the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency (EAD), today announced the launch of the annual Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Award. The deadline for award applications is midnight, October 5, 2021. Top organizations from the region are invited to submit entries for the following award categories:
- Best Sustainable Development Initiative Award
- Best Sustainability Report Award
- Best Sustainable Development Communication Plan Award
- Sustainability Manager of the Year Award
- Annual Sustainability Leadership Award
- Best Energy Management Initiative Award
As part of ADSG’s mission, these awards are another embodiment of the group’s commitment to knowledge sharing to improve sustainability performance. These awards will recognize organizations that have demonstrated sustainable impact to ensure an economically resilient and environmentally and socially resilient economy.
The independent expert jury for the award will look for organizations and individuals that have demonstrated commitment, influence, leadership and achievements in sustainable development. The winning entries must highlight the organization’s achievements in the 18 months of the 2020/21 calendar year (January 2020 to June 2021).
This year’s independent expert jury is:
- Mercedes Vela Monserrate, Head of Sustainable Finance for Global Markets in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
- Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, Chief Sustainability Officer of Majid Al Futtaim-Holding, United Arab Emirates.
- Dr. Jenny Davidson, Senior Lecturer on Leadership Development and Organizational Future at Newcastle University, UK.
- Abdullatif N. Albitaw, Secretary-General and Honorary Vice-Chairman of the Middle East Chapter of the Energy Research Institute
- Piotr Konopka, Senior Manager of DP World, Member of the Board of Directors of ME Energy Institute and Vice Chairman of the Young Professionals Network
The winners will be announced at an online event that will also feature a high-level keynote speech entitled “A New Narrative of Tomorrow Inspired by Nature”.
“We invite organizations to participate in these awards not only to allow their efforts to be recognized, but also to demonstrate their leadership in their process of changing the economy by building a more sustainable future so that they can share their learning more widely.
