Morrisville Samp Army hits three-game winning streak

The New York forwards snapped a three-game winning streak for the Morrisville Spurs with a 12-run 15-run victory on Monday’s sixth day of the Abu Dhabi T10 match at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The tournament’s two rookies battled hard, with the New York forward scoring 110 points on 8 shots to beat Azam Khan’s 47 points and Paul Sterling’s 34 points. The Spurs were limited to 5 for 98 despite captain Moen Ali’s fight-knocking 42.
The Morrisville Samp Army won the throw and opted to play. New York striker opener Paul Sterling got the first boundary of the day through Shelton Cottrell’s fifth ball to the outside edge of the third-man zone. The last ball also netted him the line when he passed the ball past the fielder.
Sterling was tough on UAE’s Ahmed Raza, who bowled in the second. He hit him back-to-back boundaries on the second and third balls. He also hit fourth and sixth balls for 21 runs. Opener Andre Fletcher was unavailable and his advantage fell to the final ball from Anrich Noterjee’s last ball when the third-man boundary flew to Dwayne Pretorius superior.
Pretorius then bowled in the fourth and Sterling was caught for 34 by goalkeeper Charles Johnson on the fourth. His 13-ball strike had five boundaries and two sixes.
Eoin Morgan and Azam Khan then started free scoring. Morgan hit the boundary of Chamika Karunaratne through a screen and hit a six off the third ball to deep square leg. Azam khan also scored a boundary and had 15 runs. The score was 64-2 at halftime, with a brilliant sixth inning from Karim Janat. He had Eoin Morgan caught by David Miller long and skipper Kieron Pollard caught by Charles on the next ball. Janat conceded just two runs and took two wickets.
Azam Khan rose to the challenge, hitting Cottrell twice in a row on first and second pitches of the seventh. The first six were hit long distance and the second was hit on the rear leg. Azam also hit a fifth ball into the penalty area for a 16-point lead.
Pretorius, as usual, played tight, allowing Muhammad Waseem to be caught by Karunatatne for 1 on the third ball and knocked down Jordan Thompson cleanly on the next over. Apart from two wickets, there were only four runs. The New York forwards slipped to 86 with just two turnovers remaining in six shots.
Azam Khan continued to hit hard, throwing 6 runs to center field in Nortje’s 9th over. He also hit him a boundary off. The third pitch also hit a six, putting the score over 100. Azam Khan dropped to the fifth over when Nortje trapped his legs before 47 overs. He knocked down 21 balls with 3 boundaries and 5 sixes.
The last inning was thrown by Janat. He took his third wicket by letting Wahab Riaz out and a second ball caught by Shimron Hetmyer. Jannat allowed just seven points in that game, and the New York forwards were limited to 110 points on eight shots in 10 games.
Samp Army started the chase with the opener, skipper Moeen Ali batting the first ball of the inning from Akeal Hosein to drive the boundary far. Hussein has only lost six in that fight. At the end of the second over, Moeen Ali hit Matiullah for 12 points.
Slow-hitting Johnson-Charles hit Wahab Riaz over the line in the third. The corkscrew slowly but steadily increases the running flow. Wahab Riaz suffered a calf muscle injury and Muhammad Waseem was called to finish. Charles hit Waseem’s sixth ball, which was a no-ball, for 6 and scored 7 for the delivery. Nineteen runs are over.

With 48 balls needed for the final 18 balls, the New York forwards were starting to feel triumphant.
Ravi Rampaul bowled in the ninth innings and Hetmyer hit six in a row at the third. Moeen Ali also hit Rampaul for six on the fifth ball. With 31 runs to go over the final 12 pitches, Thompson started off with just a single, but Hetmire hit a six on the second. With the third ball, Thompson had Hertmire out and Pollard brilliantly caught 24 points. Thompson gave up just one of his last two deliveries.
With the last six balls needed for 22, Moeen Ali tipped Rampaul’s first off the boundary. He only got a double for the next ball. With the third ball, Rampaul beat Moeen Ali for 42. His strikes came from 25 balls, 5 boundaries and 6 balls. Needing 16 points from their last three overs, Pretoria could only score two from the fourth ball before Lambauer cleanly knocked Pretoria down on the fifth ball to secure victory .
