The Abu Dhabi T10 League entered its final stages after a series of thrilling matches including three knockout matches, with the Deccan Gladiators and New York Strikers downing their rivals to enter the title race. The former side are fourth in the standings and must beat Abu Dhabi and debutant Samp’s Army to secure a chance of winning Sunday’s game. While the T10 format itself ensures that matches are always exciting, the odd moment of their encounter with the Abu Dhabi team proves that franchise leagues can go beyond the entertainment of cricket.
The Deccan Gladiators batted first and they are 94/6 overall for the match. as a response, Alex Hales Chris Lynn took the crease at the start, but there appeared to be some disagreements between the two that needed to be resolved before the game started. Clearly, both batsmen wanted to start at the non-hitter’s end, and no amicable compromise could be found to decide who had a say.
So, in a hilariously childish tactic, the duo resort to a game of rock-paper-scissors to determine the answer to their dilemma. Their first two attempts were tied, but on the third attempt, Lynn took out the scissors against Hales’ paper, thus winning the argument. In the end, however, it didn’t matter as their team succumbed to five losses, falling by 13 points and one.
