
It was announced on Thursday that a high-level conference on international accounting ethics will be held in Abu Dhabi in March.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA), the International Ethical Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) conference kicks off on March 13 with a five-day event bringing together more than 55 international participants.
IESBA is an independent body that is considered a pioneer in the development of ethical standards for the accountancy profession. IESBA codes have been adopted or used by more than 130 jurisdictions around the world.
Wael Abdul Qader, Head of Audit Affairs, ADAA, said: “By hosting this event, we are actively contributing to the global development of robust ethical standards and the promotion of the adoption of IESBA’s Code and its consistent application among all professional accountants. Worldwide .”
Meanwhile, IESBA President Gabriela Figueiredo Dias said ethics were critical to public trust in institutions, businesses and corporate reporting amid high-profile corporate scandals. “As the market becomes increasingly focused on sustainability, ethics becomes even more important in supporting transparent, relevant and trustworthy sustainability information,” she said.
