ABU DHABI – In line with the emirate’s commitment to adopting international best practices and increasing access to healthcare for all community members, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) has announced that pharmacies will offer COVID-19 vaccines and PCR tests from July 2022. Begins on the 29th.
The COVID-19 vaccine will be provided free of charge and the PCR test will cost Dh40.
This step is designed to promote community health and ensure that preventive vaccination services meet world-class standards in privacy and comfort. The first phase will allow community members to undergo PCR testing and allow those over the age of 18 who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The program will later expand the services offered to include other types of vaccinations, such as seasonal flu shots and various travel vaccines.
Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of Health, said: “With the support and vision of our wise leadership, Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector will continue to strengthen its position as a global leader in responding to the pandemic and maintaining the health of the community. and safety. By administering COVID-19 vaccinations and providing PCR testing in pharmacies, we will provide community members with easy access to vital healthcare services that are in line with Abu Dhabi’s safety measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage more pharmacies to participate in national vaccination efforts to ensure this service reaches all communities. We are also working to incorporate other types of vaccinations into pharmacies to improve personal safety and facilitate access to these services.”
Several pharmacies have successfully completed courses accredited by the Ministry of Health to administer these vaccinations. Upon successful completion, the pharmacy receives the authorization, which is then added to their license in accordance with the department’s regulations and standards. The Ministry of Health will provide a list of licensed pharmacies through www.doh.gov.ae/en/Abu-Dhabi-pharmacies The Ministry of Health encourages pharmacies wishing to offer COVID-19 vaccines and PCR tests to apply and add specialties to the TAMM platform.
The UAE maintains its global lead in COVID-19 vaccination rates, with 100% of the population receiving the first dose and 98.1% receiving two doses.
