Abu Dhabi Department of Energy Hydrogen will be shownNatural gas and low carbon energy solutions at Gastech, the world’s leading energy conference to be held this year in Milan, Italy.
Held in the UAE last year, the event is expected to attract around 38,000 delegates, including CEOs, ministers and energy professionals from more than 60 countries, between September 5 and 8.
DOE delegation at event will outline how they support UAE targets net zero emissions Emissions by 2050, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a statement on Sunday.
Representatives of the entity will explore trade and export opportunities and facilitate future energy-related contracts in Abu Dhabi, the statement said.
Officials will also seek to understand changing global energy needs and determine how the emirate can provide supply and demand-related assistance to its partners.
“Our participation in the 50th Gastech will allow us to showcase the initiatives we are implementing to support the future of clean energy and sustainable living in Abu Dhabi,” said Awaidha Al Marar, Chairman of the US Department of Energy.
“This is an opportunity…to demonstrate how the U.S. Department of Energy is deploying renewable resources and nuclear energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, while learning more about how our global partners can harness the potential of natural gas, hydrogen and low-carbon alternatives in our country. “
DOE representatives will also gain insight into how the international community is leveraging legislation, investment, and research and development to foster new low-carbon energy technologies and solutions.

The UAE is the first country in the region to commit to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and plans to increase its clean energy contribution from 25% to 50% by then and reduce its power generation carbon footprint by 70%.
The country plans to invest Dh600 billion in clean energy projects as part of its 2050 Net Zero strategy.
UAE also has several efforts Increase green investment in preparation for the Cop28 conference in 2023. It has pledged $400 million to enable developing countries to transition to clean energy.
“The DOE’s participation in events such as Gastech 2022 will further strengthen the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development, while accelerating the global community’s journey to decarbonization,” the statement said.
