Four children’s cough and cold medicines – which may have been linked to the Gambia’s death – were not sold anywhere in Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s Department of Health (DoH) confirmed in an advisory on Friday.

The department urges those who may have acquired the products not to use them and to seek medical help if they experience side effects after use.

Drugs made by India’s Maiden Pharmaceuticals have reportedly killed 66 children in The Gambia, Africa. India launched an investigation and halted all production by the New Delhi-based company after a World Health Organization report said the drugs may have been linked to the deaths.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), DoH – Abu Dhabi said in a social media post that the four products from Maiden Pharmaceuticals Limited are not available in all healthcare sectors in the emirate because they contain contaminated ingredients.

These four drugs are Promethazine Oral solution BP, cosmarin baby cough syrup, baby markov and MaGrip n Cold.
