Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed Port welcomes the world’s largest book fair on water, aboard the cruise ship Logos Hope.
The book fair is inaugurated by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center (ALC), which is part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi). Its arrival forms part of a special event at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which runs from 22-28 May. Meanwhile, Logos Hope will remain in Abu Dhabi until June 4, 2023.
The opening ceremony was attended by 1k, DCT Abu Dhabi Chairman, DCT Abu Dhabi Deputy Minister Saood Alhosani, ALC Chairman Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Tourism Director General Saleh Al Geziry, AD Ports Group Ports Cluster CEO Saif Al Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Sebastian Moncayo, project manager for pre-production for the Logos Hope exhibit, and other officials.
Activity
The ALC participates in the exhibition with a cultural program featuring events for the public and students of the school, including educational workshops for children, creative and technical workshops and dedicated corners.
“The Logos Hope floating exhibition is an innovative addition to Abu Dhabi’s cultural agenda. This novel offering furthers our efforts to promote a culture of reading and ensure the widest possible access to books and knowledge resources for all our community members, in line with the ALC strategic objectives,” said Dr bin Tamim.
The largest floating book fair
“We are delighted to host Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, as part of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2023. Over the next few weeks, all residents of Abu Dhabi will have the opportunity to enjoy A wonderful world of books to suit all tastes. We are also proud of Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal’s contribution to the capital’s cultural and intellectual entertainment,” said Noura Al Dhaheri, Managing Director, Cruises, AD Ports Group.
5,000 books
The Floating Book Fair offers visitors more than 5,000 books and publications covering fields such as sports, science, art, dictionaries, medicine and languages. The exhibition is accompanied by a busy series of events, workshops, discussions, interactive and musical performances catering to all segments of the community.
ALC programming includes a children’s story reading workshop with author Dr. Fatima Al Mazrouei, an Arabic calligraphy workshop with Saeed Al Amiri, book discussions led by members of the ALC Reading Club, and a workshop on the history of literature and music with Iman Hashemi (Iman Al Hashemi).

Every year, the Logos Hope cruise ship welcomes approximately one million tourists. Since its establishment in 2009, it has visited more than 150 countries around the world and received a total of 49 million people. The ship’s crew includes volunteers from 60 different countries, and their teams travel to areas around the ports where the ship calls to visit hospitals and schools, as well as provide community service and assistance. Logos Hope’s primary goal is to serve the people in the communities in which it operates.
