Nominations for Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards close on 8 August

The winners of the upcoming Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards will receive a total of Dh1.3 million.

On Thursday, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, announced the start of nominations for the sixth edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards.

The award, the first of its kind in the region, aims to empower women and highlight their achievements, especially in sports.

Sheikha Fatima bint Haza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Women’s Club, announced Give out awards.

She stressed that with the continued recognition and support of Sheikha Fatima, this is a new incentive for female athletes at the Emirati, Arab and international levels.

“We are honoured by the value and status of this award and its pioneering role in supporting the creative and influential values ​​of sport to inspire and encourage female athletes,” said Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza.

“Containing multiple categories, this award is an inspiration to outstanding female athletes and women of creativity and excellence on the local and international tours. Good luck to all involved.”

The announcement was made by the Academy and Abu Dhabi Sports Council at a press conference at the Emirates Palace Hotel on Thursday.

Registration for nominations opens on July 7 and closes on August 8, with shortlisted candidates to be announced on September 9 and awarded on September 17.

The competition categories for the awards include individual and collective levels across sectors including sport management, training, research, sport sponsorship and women’s determination.

This year’s individual-level categories include:

  • – Best Arab Female Athlete – Dh300,000
  • Best UAE Female Athlete – Dh300,000
  • Best Youth Athlete – Dh100,000
  • Best Athlete (Man of Determination) – Dh100,000
  • Best Female/Male Coach – Dh100,000
  • Best Sports Media Dh100,000

At the agency and federation level categories, they include:

  • Best Youth Development Programme – Dh100,000
  • Best Team – Dh100,000
  • Best Sports Creativity Programme (including Sports Development Research, Technology and Sports Innovation) – Dh100,000

Each year, the award recognizes the sports personalities of the year, those with more than 20 years of racing experience, a category at the level of the Arab world.

This year’s event is sponsored by strategic partners; the Abu Dhabi Centre for Public Health and the Department of Presidential Affairs, as well as platinum partners Etihad Rail, Dolphin Energy and supporting partners Abu Dhabi Cooperative.

Dr Omniyat Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy, said: “Through this award, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy aims to illuminate and inspire the experiences of women’s sports.
