A range of spectacular entertainment awaits visitors.
With the return of the Yas Games Festival, gamers in the UAE will welcome a far-reaching entertainment event this year (7-23 July) at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi.
Step into Sports Boulevard from July 7th to 17th for a captivating adventure kingdom filled with a plethora of video games for professional and casual gamers alike. Participants can take part in competitive missions, meet iconic cosplayers and artists, and dress up as their favorite characters for exciting prizes.
The 11-day gaming extravaganza is free and open to all residents and visitors of the capital. Yas Esports Festival will be a stage full of thrilling gaming stations and hands-on games, eSports and tournaments for guests of all ages. A full virtual world will be witnessed through specially curated sites, including dedicated PlayStation and Xbox areas, each with six consoles and the latest video games.
A Nintendo Super Mario-themed area with three Switch consoles will also showcase popular video games. Filled with exhilarating favorites like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, WWE2K22, Pac-Man Museum+, Lego Skywalker, Sonic Origins, and more, there’s always something for all experience levels. Fans can also hit the beat at the Just Dance Station for up to 8 players.
Arcade Alley accommodates up to 12 players who can travel back in time to play some of the greatest games in history in a retro arcade, choosing from over 1,000 nostalgic options including Asteroids, Simpsons, 1948 and Street Fighter.
A special station with three life-size racing simulators will allow guests to race against each other and curb their need for speed with F1 2020 and Grand Turismo. Players are invited to enjoy daily stage play and activations including FIFA, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros and Giant Jenga, and win daily prize missions.
The FIFA 22 tournament will take place on July 8 from 6pm to 11pm, and registered players are welcome to compete against each other on PlayStation 4. Players stand a chance to win Dh4,000 for 1st place, Dh2,000 for 2nd place and Dh1,500 for 3rd place.
Fortnite pros stand a chance to win the Competitive Cup at the Yas Gaming Festival, the Fortnite Pro tournament taking place on PlayStation 4 on July 9th from 6-11pm. A total of five teams will be competing against each other for the chance to be crowned this year’s Fortnite Championship. The first-place team will receive up to AED 4,000, the second-place prize is AED 2,000 and the third-place prize is AED 1,500. To create further momentum, Dh20,000 will be donated to selected charities on behalf of the winning team.
Fans can dress up for a cosplay competition or capture some of their favorite characters starting July 15 at 6pm. Guests can marvel at the artistry and detailing of the costumes and pose with characters from popular movies and games. The highly anticipated competition will be judged on the quality of workmanship of the costumes, attention to detail, and performance in relation to the chosen characters. The winning cosplayer will stand a chance to win a host of exciting prizes, including AED 10,000 for first place, AED 5,000 for second place and AED 2,500 for third place.
Joining the festivities is beloved professional cosplayer and artist Saku, popular for her work with Netflix, Universal Studios and Coca-Cola. She will be joined by another fan favorite, Harry Field, a multiverse content creator, host and entrepreneur with a passion for League of Legends and Gundam fans. Both cosplayers will take part in Yas Mall as part of the cosplay competition.
Nintendo gamers’ favorite game, Smash Bros. Ultimate, will take place on Nintendo Switch on July 16th from 6-11pm. Three prizes await players, with AED 4,000 for first place, AED 2,000 for second and AED 1,500 for third.
The culmination of the first Yas gaming month, which will run throughout July, will be the anticipated World Finals of the acclaimed V10 R League. The sim racing series will name this season’s overall winner at Yas Mall. The semi-finals, bronze medal races and finals of the unique racing league will take place from July 22 to 23 with a prize pool of AED 444,112. Now in its third season, the league will feature some of the biggest names in sim racing, including Mercedes-AMG Esports, Red Bull Racing Esports, Aston Martin Esports and Yas’ own YAS HEAT.
Throughout the Yas Games Festival, participants will be able to give back through Gaming4Good, a CSR-led programme where guests can donate or buy used games and consoles, with all proceeds going to the Emirates Autism Centre.
