Abu Dhabi Airports announced that Al Bateen Executive Airport has received 4D certification from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Achieving this certification means that Al Bateen can now accommodate wide-body aircraft without operational challenges, restrictions or civil aviation pre-approval.

Securing Al Bateen’s 4D certification has been one of the top achievements for Abu Dhabi Airports, with the recent completion of a major upgrade that saw the existing 3.2km runway successfully repaved and widened to accommodate the Boeing 767 and more Model of a twin-aisle jet aircraft.

As part of the refurbishment activities, more than 105,000 tonnes of asphalt were used in different areas of the runway, the runway shoulder area and the taxiways, totaling approximately 240,000 square meters, 23 kilometers of electrical cables were laid, in addition to 15.5 kilometers of pipes and over 400 new overhauls hole installation.
