Etihad Airways Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways Group, will add 50 tonnes of belly capacity to the US from November, the company said on Wednesday.
From November 15th, the additional capacity will fly to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with four new weekly nonstop flights.
With the addition of these flights, the airline will offer 11 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and New York.
In a statement, Etihad Cargo said the introduction of additional capacity in Etihad Cargo’s winter programme brings total cargo capacity in and out of the US to 1,084 tonnes per week.
“Etihad Cargo is constantly reviewing its network to add more capacity to meet the needs of its partners and customers,” said Martin Drew, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Cargo, Etihad Airways Group.
“The addition of four weekly flights to New York to the airline’s winter schedule further demonstrates Etihad Cargo’s commitment to customers by providing additional capacity on this important trade route and through Etihad Cargo Deutsche Cargo’s hub in Abu Dhabi strengthens U.S. connections with the rest of the world,” he said.
Etihad Cargo also provides capacity to other US destinations through cargo and passenger flights to Chicago and Washington.
The airline operates nine weekly flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and daily flights to Washington Dulles International Airport.
Providing additional capacity to New York is the latest move by the airline to strengthen operations in the United States.
